<image:caption>Tobias Keene, D.D.S. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries. When not striving to keep his patients happy and healthy, he’s enjoys hiking with his family in Rock Creek Park.</image:caption>

<image:title>Ministry Teams - Evangelism</image:title>
<image:caption>Many people find evangelism to be an offensive word, thinking only of people knocking on doors to harass you into converting to their faith. That’s NOT what evangelism is about at St. Andrew! Then what IS Evangelism at St. Andrew? We are commanded by Jesus Christ to “go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of God, the Son and the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19) St. Andrew takes this commission to heart by being invitational and welcoming. It is in how we each live our lives that we are to be examples of Christ’s love in our communities. We hope that by being beacons of light and hope in a dark and lonely world, we will invite people to discover that which transforms our lives into lives of hope and joy… the Grace of a loving and merciful God. There is an expression that goes “your life might be the only Bible some people read.” As Christians, we need to be prepared to tell our own “God story” … that story that we each have that explains to 0thers why we align ourselves with Jesus Christ, and why we go to church to worship with a community of faith called St. Andrew Lutheran Church. We need to live differently because of Jesus Christ. In the process, we use a variety of tools and activities to get your attention: Our annual Easter Egg Hunt; Our Children’s Circle Day Care Center; our front sign; our newsletter; this website; social media; special events; special worship services; participation with our community in programs and events; and new member or visitor events. Join us on this journey. We invite you to find and build your relationship with God in this place… to begin to write your own “God story.” Come on in… it’s fun!</image:caption>

<image:title>Ministry Teams - Stewardship</image:title>
<image:caption>St. Andrew is … a place of Faithful Lives and Generous Hearts… Because of Christ. “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:21) We work hardest for the things we treasure most. Unfortunately, most of us don’t treasure most the thing we should. We are supposed to treasure our relationship with God above all else, for when we do, everything else that we need will fall into place… our families, our personal relationships, our finances, our vocations, our recreation, and our peace of mind. But this is so hard to do, isn’t it? It’s really about our mindset. This kind of thinking, and living, comes with practice. And with practice, it becomes not that terribly difficult to do. Will we falter? Of course. But to work to put ourselves back into this mindset gets easier every time we stray, as we practice.. because living in this mindset becomes easier than living out of it. Keeping this mindset… that we are to treasure our relationship with God above everything else… begins with remembering that everything we have and everything we are comes from God. We have earned nothing on our own without God’s help. When we remember that, it becomes second nature to think of everything we do as being done for the glory of God. And when we live as if everything we do is a testament to the abundance of God’s love, which is never-ending, then we end up doing God’s Work with Our Hands, and multiplying the very gifts God has given to us. Then there is enough for all. When we live in the mindset that our relationship with God matters more than anything else, the trickle-down effect moves us to give back to the One who gives us everything, even His Son to die for our salvation. In our giving back, we enable the Church to do God’s Work, with Our Hands.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In the time we spend in community together and welcoming our neighbors, we show our hospitality. Go to our Events & Outreach page for what’s happening this month. At Saint Andrew we have lots of opportunities and it’s always fun. We are a community of faith in the family of God. We truly enjoy being with each other and enjoying the diversity of the gifts and talents we each bring to the community here. Some of the ways we life to have fun together include: Sunday Morning Coffee Hour - after each worship service, volunteers provide coffee and refreshments while we meet and catch up with each other. Book Club - we’ve been reading books together for 25 years and we still have a great time every month. The group reads an eclectic selection of books each year - some classics, some mysteries, some biography, mostly novels - and has a riotously fun time discussing the books over delicious snacks. The highlight of our year, however, is our annual Christmas party where we take the art of “stealing” to new heights. Join us and see what the fun is all about. Check our this year’s reading list on our Book Club Reading List page. Please RSVP to SaintAndrew@elcaAndy.org Game Night - Every other month (January, March, May, July, September, and November) a bunch of trivia and dice rolling game lovers get together on a Friday night to challenge each. It’s a blast. Annual Church Picnic - Each June, we get together for our annual picnic. It’s picnic fare with games, and usually some water balloons or Super Soakers! AND, we got the only “Sparkling Spoon” dessert contest we know, where congregation members bring their best dessert recipes to compete for bragging rights to earning the “Sparkling Spoon” Easter Breakfast, Stewardship Breakfast, Annual Meeting Luncheon, and even Sundaes on Sunday… Are you sensing a theme on this topic?… We like to eat together, and have fun together! These meals and events give us a chance to spend some time together, and chat with people we don’t often get time to talk to for more than a few minutes in passing. To make it simple… we like to have fun together! So come on in and join us!</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - Join us for Worship!</image:title>
<image:caption>We invite you to join us for worship. Sundays at 9:30 am Holy Communion is offered every week. Sermons are available on our Facebook page, YouTube channel and our Online Worship link. The Lutheran worship service draws from the rich history of our liturgical beginnings but incorporates the relevant concerns and prayers, insights, music and messages important to our lives today. Our music resources draw from a variety of traditional and more contemporary styles. Children are welcome in worship. We understand they fidget, but we also know that the best way to learn to behave in worship is to BE in worship. For those times when they might be just too restless for everyone’s enjoyment of the service, our narthex (lobby) provides clear glass walls and doors to separate the sanctuary from the narthex, so that parents can see what is happening in worship, and a speaker system that allows a parent to hear the service. Our bulletins are printed in full. (Large print available). Please recycle it in the basket at the back of the sanctuary. We offer grape juice and gluten free wafers for Holy Communion if wine and bread pose a challenge for you.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Saint Andrew Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). We participate in many church-wide outreach programs, including ELCA Disaster Relief and the ELCA Hunger Appeal. We work with Lutheran World Relief to provide disaster relief kits to people in need around the world affected by natural disasters, public health disasters, political unrest, and war. This photo shows our recent collection to help the families of Family Promise of Morris County. We delight in hands-on help for our community as well. We have been a support congregation for Family Promise of Morris County since its inception (originally Interfaith Council for Homeless Families) in 1986. We have a year-round non-perishable food collection to support the Parsippany Area Emergency Food Pantry. We collect funds to purchase gift cards to local grocery stores for Food Pantry guests to be able to purchase perishable food items like meat, dairy, bread and produce. We also participate in advocacy regarding issues related to hunger, homelessness, and social injustice. If you have a particular passion for an individual mission we’d like to hear about it. Join us in our service….</image:caption>

<image:title>Worship</image:title>
<image:caption>Sunday Worship 9:30 aM - in person Worship should be relevant, joyous, fun and yet reverent. At St. Andrew, we enjoy making this a reality. Our service draws from our rich liturgical history with a lectionary (sometimes abandoned for the day for a relevant side journey) and seasons of the Church year. We enjoy an occasional drama play/skit or handbell performance and enjoy mixing things up every so often. We gather for ONE service at 9:30 am. We welcome the musical talents of our congregation members to bring special selections or songs to the worship experience. We enjoy singing a wide array of music drawing from resources that are both traditional and more contemporary, but we do not have a praise band. Sunday Sermons are available online the week following the service here. Please see our link to our COVID Guidelines for more information.</image:caption>

<image:title>Worship - Your Spiritual Life</image:title>
<image:caption>Where you’ve Been is Not as important as where you are going Growing your relationship with God is paramount at St Andrew. What life has thrown at you is not the gate keeper to your relationship with God. The love of God is open and available to everyone. The Bible lessons, sermon, prayers and music selections of our worship are all woven together to try to bring the Bible’s messages to life for us today, and to prepare us to face the challenges that confront us when we leave this place. Outside of worship, we offer occasional Bible or Themed/Book Studies to help you explore the Word of God and how we are called to be Christ in our communities. Check our Events page for current studies offered. Life Events Baptisms, Weddings, Confirmation & Funerals Baptisms, Weddings, Confirmation and Funerals are part of the faith life of St. Andrew. These can be discussed and arranged through conversation with Pastor Psomi. Please contact the office at 973-887-6713 or office@elcaAndy.org These life events require the congregation to promise to support you, and we can only really do that when the St. Andrew community of faith gets to know you. However, we do want to be a part of your faith journey and invite you to inquire about these services. We hope to see you soon so that you can join us on the journey...</image:caption>

<image:title>Worship - Get Involved in Worship! Worship is savored best when you’ve had a hand in its creation. Once you’ve become a part of the family of God at St. Andrew, we invite you to journey deeper and extend the invitation to worship. If it interests you, we hope you will become a part of the story of welcome at St. Andrew by serving as an usher, reader, altar guild member, worship leader, communion assistant, fellowship host or play an instrument. There are so many ways to help make our welcome your story too.</image:title>

<image:title>Day Care Center - Our Child Care Center Children’s Circle at St. Andrew Lutheran Church</image:title>
<image:caption>Our child care center, Children’s Circle, is a fully-owned and operated ministry of Saint Andrew. We recognize the need and importance of quality day care for children of working parents. St. Andrew built and developed Children’s Circle in response to the needs of parents for a warm, safe, nurturing and challenging Center that would provide care for a full circle of a child’s needs. We believe that each child is a unique person with individual, God-given, gifts and talents (and sometimes challenges). We believe our center makes a positive difference in the lives of the children who come here. Several of our staff have been here since our beginning in 1994. Many have celebrated 15 years or more of service with us. We rejoice as families continue to recommend us as a trusted place to care for their children. At Children’s Circle, we have a long history of preparing children not just for a successful kindergarten experience, but to be learners for life!
